Ok, still a few months away now that we have a release date for call of duty 7 vietnam, however the question remains, would you prefer call of duty 7 of modern warfare 2?

Does it sound like this question is too early for people to answer? If so then you may just be thinking about it in the wrong way. The reason I’m asking is to basically figure out if people prefer the modern warfare series of call of duty, or the old fashioned versions. Personally I have always liked games that are a little older in scene if possible, some real actions actually happening.

It was for that reason, I prefered call of duty world at war over modern warfare. I just feel that sometimes the modern warfare series, tries too hard to be good, and although they are good games, some classic weapons, real trenches and other aspects just make it feel more like a war game. I know there are millions of modern warfare 2 fans out there who will be thinking what am I talking about, however there will also be more than a few that will understand exactly what I mean.

A report from the Los Angeles Times says MTV Games/Harmonix is set to release a “new edition” of Rock Band that will feature guitar legend Jimi Hendrix by the end of this year. This confirmation comes from Hendrix’s stepsister and current manager of his estate, Janie Hendrix in a recent interview.

When asked for comment, a Harmonix representative would not confirm a new Rock Band is on the way, only saying the company has had discussions to bring more Hendrix music to the platform.

“While we have not made any official announcements regarding Jimi Hendrix and Rock Band, we are excited to say that we are in discussions to bring more of his music to our platform. Stay tuned,” the spokesperson told IGN.

For clarification, Harmonix also confirmed they are not developing a standalone Hendrix game. So this means any Hendrix music coming to Rock Band in the near future will be in the form of downloadable content, or part of a greater collection of songs to be released later in this supposed “new edition.”

Head of MTV Games Scott Guthrie confirmed last year Harmonix is hard at work on “Rock Band 3,” and hinted at the possibility of releasing multiple titles in the same calendar year. The studio is set to release Green Day: Rock Band sometime 2010, the first band-focused title since The Beatles: Rock Band released this past fall.

If there’s one thing we could’ve used in Fable 2, it was a more fleshed-out co-op system. Sure, we could see our friends’ orbs floating about Albion and we could even invite them to play as a one-off character in our world, but it was one unable to collect experience or have any lasting impact on our game. As you might image, Lionhead’s head lion Peter Molyneux is ready to deliver just that in Fable 3. Molyneux told the 4Guys 1UP podcast: “I heard you all about co-op. You want to have your own hero come into the world. Okay, fine, you can have that definitely.”

Detailing the system further, he admitted that the player’s dog and weapons will also be available in co-op. “When you come into my world, you come in as your hero, with your dog, with all your unique weapons, self-crafted weapons. I heard you — you don’t wanna be tied to my camera, you wanna go off and do your own thing in my world. Fine, fair enough.”

<!--

That said, he warned about “consequences” from bringing in said friends to your own version of Albion. “It means careful who you invite in, ’cause they can screw the whole thing up, man!” And then, when the possibility of using the new “touch” functionality came up, things took a turn for the weird. “Yes you can use touch with your co-op partner. Yes you can walk down the street hand-in-hand. Yes you can drag your co-op partner to your dungeon and see what happens. Absolutely.” Keep in mind, folks — what happens in the dungeon stays in the dungeon. Rawr!

Sonic 4 is to be their attempt at recreating classic sonic games to bring back the younger end of the gaming market. In order to do this, there has been a real big shake up in the sonic games, with sonic 4 going back to basics.

Back to basics basically means that the sonic games will be moving back to 2d ish views on the game. Although I say 2d is, it will still come up with some really nice 3d shots of a side on view. The screen shot and video, should it be real, actually looks really good and interesting.

I mean looking at this, what do you think? Will the guys have a tough task to sell copies of this game, or has sonic been brought back to the early 90s to mount a huge challegene against the other games? My opinion is that its cracked, and back for good, sonic games may just be as popular as they always were. Let me know your thoughts, you can even discuss what you feel is your favourite sonic game out of all the games that have been made. Maybe you even like one of the sonic 3d games, if you do, i’ll be interested to hear from you.

For a start one of my most favourite flash games is the car parking one, where you have to practice driving your car into really tight car park spaces. Everyone has played a flash game at one point in their work career, and soon my readers will all be able to see some fantastic free online games here. You can bookmark us so you can come back when we are ready but until then you are probably thinking, well were can I play free online games?

The best answer is, freeonlinegames.com they have a wide range of great games some even have an online section to compete against others. I swear I have spent hours and hours on that site alone.

There are a number of people out there that believe they need more time to finish their prestige before they play the latest edition of call of duty.

In essence they are probably right, but with modern warfare and call of duty now produced as seperate games, there is probably a lagging in the factory that believe it has been too long since call of duty world at war. What are your thoughts on this? Do you yearn for another edition of call of duty, or should they be waiting for people to become bored or tired of call of duty modern warfare 2?

If this sonic game really does bring back some hard core memories, then you probably know that since sonic 2 or maybe 3, you’ve not really had anything to wet your appetite for a really long time. Most sonic games since then, have failed misserably when compared to the early ones however one or two may have done ok in their market. The game that probably done the best was sonic and the olympics on the nintendo wii.

With sonic going back to basics with the latest games atleast sega have finally realised that they need to bring back the older generation interest in order to get the younger generation wanting to buy their games.

Back to what I was talking about, sonic & sega all star racing, is this really a good idea? Well I think so, lets face it, if we have sonic along side a whole host of other stars, then kids will associate these fantastic modern gaming stars with sonic, keeping them intriugued for the release of sonic 4.

Sonic racing is a fantastically fun game to be played with the family but I feel its probably better played on the wii instead of one of the next gen consoles.

US, February 12, 2010 – Our last gadget throwdown, which lets IGN readers cast their votes for their favorite of two comparable devices, pitted the iPod touch against the Zune HD. The results showed that 53% of those polled preferred the Zune HD over the iPod touch. This time we’re putting Apple’s smartphone powerhouse, the iPhone, against the Nexus One, the latest addition to the Android mobile platform. Will Apple win the hearts and minds of the IGN community? Or will Google’s latest hotness reign supreme? Cast your votes below and voice your thoughts in the comment section.

<!--

In terms of hardware, the differences between the Nexus One and the iPhone 3GS vary. On the one hand, the Nexus One packs a powerful Qualcomm QSD 8250 1GHz processor, while the iPhone 3GS falls short with only 600MHz of power coming from its ARM Cortex-A8 CPU. However, the iPhone 3GS makes up for its inferior processing speeds through the inclusion of a dedicated PowerVR SGX graphics processor, which enables the 3GS to play Open GL-enabled 3D games. As for storage space, the iPhone trumps the Nexus One with its internal flash storage of either 16GB or 32GBs. The Nexus One comes with 512MBs of Flash storage and a 4GB Micro SD Card. Of course, you can always expand the Nexus One’s storage capacity to up to match the iPhone 3GS, but that requires an additional purchase. Like CPU speeds, the Nexus One also has more RAM than the iPhone 3GS, packing 512MBs of memory compared to the 3GS’ 256MBs.

Both the iPhone 3GS and the Nexus One are capable of recording video and still pictures via built-in cameras. The Nexus One packs a 5-megapixel camera that records videos at 20 frames per second with a resolution of 720×480 pixels, while the iPhone 3GS has a 3-megapixel camera that records videos at 30 frames per second with a maximum resolution of 640×480 pixels. The Nexus One also offers an LED flash for dim lighting and nighttime photography, whereas iPhone 3GS users are at the whim of external light sources.

At the time of launch, the Nexus One was lacking multi-touch functionality, a standard feature in the iPhone, but it has since been added via firmware update. The iPhone 3GS packs a 3.5-inch 480×320 pixel LCD display and the Nexus One has a 3.7-inch 800×480 pixel AMOLED display. The Nexus One’s AMOLED display offers a wider contrast ratio of 100,000:1, while the range of the iPhone 3GS has not been disclosed. Outside of touchscreen control, the iPhone 3GS has a home button for returning to menus while the Nexus One includes a trackball for menu navigation.

The Nexus One and the iPhone 3GS are both 3G-enabled smartphones the utilize GSM/Edge networks, and both have integrated Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity with 802.11b/g support. Other hardware features that both share include built-in speakers, volume control buttons, and built-in light sensors.

The iPhone 3GS and Nexus One both run on proprietary operating systems – the 3GS runs on Apple’s iPhone OS which is also used in the iPod touch, and the Nexus One uses Google’s Android Eclair platform. The core framework of the Nexus One’s Android operating system is a lot more flexible due to its open source nature, while the iPhone OS is more strictly regulated by Apple. Both devices can be expanded through downloadable apps from both first party and third party developers. In this area, the iPhone is the undisputed king. As it currently stands, there are over 140,000 apps available through the iTunes App Store, which can be accessed and managed on the handset itself, as well as Mac or Windows-based PCs. The Android platform, however, is only now nearing 30,000 apps, which are accessed and managed exclusively through the device itself.

Despite its inferior number of apps, the Nexus One still offers many of the same apps you can find on the iPhone 3GS, including social networking apps like Facebook and Myspace, Twitter clients, and photo apps. Where the iPhone has a strong lead, again, is in terms of 3D games, including many from AAA publishers like Activision, EA, and others.

The iPhone 3GS and Nexus One are both offered in contract and contract-free variations. The Nexus One is currently available in the United States through T-Mobile for a price of $179.00 with a 2-year service contract. The iPhone 3GS is currently exclusive to AT&T in the United States and costs $199 for the 16GB variation and $299 for the 32GB variation with a 2-year service agreement. AT&T offers the iPhone 3GS out of contract for $599 and $699 for the 16GB and 32GB variations respectively. The Nexus One comes unlocked direct from Google for $529.00. In either case, the Nexus One comes in below the price of the iPhone 3GS.

We’ve provided all of the facts, now its up to you to decide. Which smartphone reigns supreme? Is it the iPhone 3GS or the Nexus One? Cast your vote and comment below!

Only…well, it’s virtually impossible to resist the lure of a return visit to Rapture. As rusting leaky crumbling undersea dystopias go, Rapture has it all and I convinced myself at the start of my play through that I wouldn’t let my disappointment get the better of me. If nothing else, I’d enjoy being a virtual tourist in Andrew Ryan’s twisted undersea kingdom once again.

With no pomp or ceremony you find yourself once again emerging into a barnacle-encrusted world of decay and human debasement, only this time rather than being a fleet-of-foot mystery man, you’re cast as a lumbering Big Daddy. Clad in your armoured diving suit with all the grace and flexibility of an arthritic hippo, you may feel a little encumbered at the start of the game and extremely frustrated that just about everything left in Rapture can kill you with inherent ease.

Thankfully those of you who played through the first game will know that Bioshock doesn’t leave you defenceless for long, and Bioshock 2 doesn’t either. Soon you will gain your first plasmid powers (with various items common with the first game, plus a few new ones to keep you on your toes). Your main armament at first is the Big Daddy arm-drill, but eventually you’ll find other weapons dotted around the rotting corridors and access tubes of Rapture, and again like the first game these weapons can all be upgraded turning you from Splicer-fodder into a hefty killing machine.

I’m purposely avoiding giving too much away plot wise, because I know how annoyed I’d be if I read a review that spoiled plot and gameplay elements too much. Suffice to say that Bioshock 2 is very much more a shoot-em-up fan’s game, eschewing the intelligent character interaction and puzzle solving of the first game and focussing more on fighting your way out of trouble. On the “normal” difficulty level, I found the game unjustly punishing and seemed to spend way too much of my time staring at the glass doors of a revival booth.

Ammo seems to be scarcer than the first game, though you can spend a lot of time searching nooks and crannies, and various containers as well as dead bodies for useful items.

New characters and locations abound in the previously unexplored sections of Rapture and it’s these that make the game worth playing, even though you’ll probably play the entire game just waiting for that inevitable twist in the tale (again I’ll emphasize, no spoilers here, go and play it and you’ll know what I’m talking about). Your character seems easy to empathize with and like the hero of the first game, a character that’s been used and abused by nefarious villains in positions of power amongst Rapture’s higher echelons. But expect the unexpected. I will say no more than that.

Reiterating the point that Bioshock 2 is more for first person shooter fans than RPG fanatics, there’s a tacked-on multiplayer mode to compliment the single player stuff. I say “tacked on” because despite having some superb alternatives to the usual standard multiplayer “capture the flag” or “team deathmatch” fare, there are several custom modes that bond firmly with the game’s core elements. Adam hunt is one such mode, tasking players with gathering more Adam than their competitors. Of course it goes without saying that plasmid powers feature heavily in multiplayer too, and at times the gameplay is fast and frenetic. But it still feels like an entire game mode that wasn’t really necessary, and was just thrown into the mix to keep FPS fans sweet.

All told, Bioshock 2 suffers from having extremely large shoes to fill (and you don’t get larger shoes than those lead-lined clompers the Big Daddies wear). So much is carried over from the first game without much enhancement or change, and though that’s not necessarily a bad thing it feels a lot like the minimum effort was put in. That said, technically there are some superb spot effects and some impressive set pieces, particularly when your character gets trapped in a rapidly flooding chamber. The way the scene swiftly changes to a submerged particle-filled room full of floating debris is indeed extremely impressive.

Inventory and plasmid handling is much the same as in Bioshock 1, as are the weapons and upgrades and of course the moral choice of helping or harvesting Little Sisters, though this time you can escort the little darlings around to gain even more Adam for your own means.

The tedious pipe-puzzle hacking elements have been replaced with an equally tedious swinging needle “game” (which incidentally could end up being nigh on impossible if you’re colourblind). Other than that, there are minor changes to some of the HUD graphics and a tighter look and feel to the game engine. Rather nicely, you also have the option on consoles to lock the framerates (sacrificing a little visual clarity here and there).

The star of the game though is undoubtedly the setting, and though I’ve enjoyed Bioshock 2 a lot less than the first game I am pretty sure that if 2K have got a third game in mind, I’ll be unable to resist the temptation to go back to Rapture once more.
