Fenerbahce meet Shakhtar Donetsk at the Sükrü Saracoglu this Tuesday evening in the third-round qualifying of the UEFA Champions League.

Fenerbahce come into this tie after 4 wins from 5 in their pre-season games – they scored 11 goals and conceded 7.

Shakhtar Donetsk have an advantage coming into this tie as their domestic leage, the Ukrainian Premier league is ongoing – Shakhtar have won their last 2 league games in July (4:1 over Volyn and 2:0 over Oleksandria).  Prior to that they defeated Dynamo Kiev in the Ukrainian Super Cup

Fenerbahce made it out of groups last year however they were outclassed by Arsenal in the knock-out stages where they lost 5:0 on aggregate.

Shakhtar Donetsk also made it out of groups – they faced Bayern Munich in the knock-out stages and after a 0:0 draw at the L’viv Arena, it looked like they could possibly upset Munich however they lost 7:0 in the return leg at the Allianz Arena.

Bookmakers are rather unsure who is going to come out on top in this tie – Fenerbahce are slight favourites at 5/4, while the draw is 11/5 and Shakhtar Donetsk to win is currently trading at 9/4 which will appeal to a lot of punters given that they are competing domestically and are playing competitive football weekly.
