Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 – Not Named As IGN Game of The Year

In a shock turn of events, call of duty modern warfare 2 has not been named as game of the year on either of the 2 major consoles the xbox 360 and the playstation 3.

It is astounding that this has some how been missed, or maybe someone has forgotten to tell them that call of duty modern warfare 2 has sold the most of any type of game or music cd ever in the first week of sales. Even when I play online on the xbox 360 everyones status says, Modern Warfare 2.

The winners of the game of the year were assassins creed 2 on the xbox 360 and uncharted 2 on the ps3. I think we should discuss why call of duty modern warfare 2 didnt win. Is it possible that people didnt vote because the game is so glitch ridden that getting a game online that is straight up, is almost impossible?

We first had the Javelin Glitch. Then we had the hacks all over the pc, and now we have the unlimited ammo virus that has been sweeping the internet.

Maybe people are just finding that the repetitiveness of the call of duty series becoming boring. We are now on the 6th “call of duty” even if some are labelled slightly different.

IGN Video Game of The Year 2009 – Will Modern Warfare 2 Be King?

Its that time of year again, its the time when we all find out what will be game of the year. The IGN Game of the year awards will be announced later today ith the whole world expecting Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to be crowned king of the pile.

There are a number of categories with games competing for a number of different awards. All the nomnations are below, please take some time and watch the video provided by IGN of further explanation of the nominees.

Modern Warfare 2 & Fifa 10 Can’t Help Slump in Game Sales

Ok its been well publicised that games such as modern warfare 2 and fifa 10, have sold massive amounts of games in recent weeks. This however, is nowhere near enough sales for the games market not to be hit by people cutting costs due to the recession.

Althought modern warfare 2 is still sold out in a majority of places and tops the weekley charts for now 4 weeks, there has still been a 15% decrease in game sales over the last 44 weeks.

Alot of people are sat here thinking that the credit crunch has finally hit an industry that was probably looking to go untouched, but i believe that it has still gone untouched! All you have to do is look at the quality of games that was released compared to the same time period last year.

We had some massive games released in 2008, look at some of these titles and tell me you never played them!

Super Smash Bros – Wii
Bully – Wii & 360
Pro Evo 2008 – wii
Assassins Creed – 360, PS3 & Wii
GTA IV – 360 & Wii
Metal Gear Solid 4!! – PS3
Pro Evo 2009 – 360 & PS3
Fifa 09 – 360, Wii & PS3
Gears of War 2 – 360
Mercenaries 2 – PS3 & 360
Call of Duty World at War – PS3, 360 & Wii

Just look at that list, i think the lack of games lack that so far this year more than makes up for what we havent had in sales this year. I think before modern warfare 2 and Fifa 10, the only real big release may have been residents evil, but this in no way can compensate for all of the above games.

Everyone must of held off buying the smaller games to save their time for fifa 10, modern warfare 2 and assassins creed 2. I don’t think there has been another year like 2009 previously, so lets see how sales go next year compared to this.

Modern Warfare 2 – Andy Murray Gets Dumped – Xmas Gift To Avoid!

Modern Warfare 2 maybe at the top of the sales charts again for the 3rd successive week, however it has now showed to be one of the most dangerous games to get anyone as a gift for xmas.

Andy Murray found out earlier this week, just how much trouble being addicted to games, can get you in! Murray has had some publicised problems in the past with his gaming addictions but this one seems to have cost him his relationship! Is it a stupid thing to be dumped over? Possibly and a source close to the pair said

“He [Andy] would spend all his time glued to it [PS3]. It drove her mad. In the end she [Kim] just got fed up with it. She wanted more out of the relationship“

Its possible she just wanted an xbox 360? I should make jokes however because you may very well be reading this thinking you may be buying modern warfare 2 for a loved one at christmas. If you are, then you will now also have to consider that loved ones can become addicted to games then you can become increasingly frustrated by their ability to concentrate on the “real life”.

I would suggest avoiding this game and buying them a lovely single player such as Assassins Creed, so that once its completed, its done with.

Also consider other xmas gifts to avoid apart from just modern warfare 2.

Twitter Top Trend For Assassins Creed 2 – Wonder Why?

Ok, with Modern Warfare 2 out and everyone seeming to be interested in that, I was shocked to find out that when I logged into my Twitter account, I found that Assassins Creed is one of the top twitter trends.

I feel almost as though this game has been left in the shadows with so many people itching to prestige on modern warfare. I more than enjoyed the first assassins creed and judging by the reaction on the social networking site twitter, the rest of the world seem to be enjoying it.

I personally have not played the second installment of this game although I am looking forward to the time I can site down to do so. What I was wondering though, is why assassins creed is actually trending on twitter when its very rare that a game will do anything to even be mentioned in twitter.

I had a look at the tweets to find that the majority of it seems to be spam, probably picked up after the game started to trend, but the few orginal tweets I found, show that twitter users are actually waking up and playing the game. I wonder why modern warfare 2 doesn’t trend on twitter anymore? Maybe the demographic has slightly changed on twitter and assassins creed only appeals to this demographic.

I think the main reason is that everyone is being annoyed by the Javelin glitch that seems to be plaguing the gaming community.

Assassins Creed 2 – Sales Forcasts Smashed in the First Week, Great Xmas Gifts

Assassin’s Creed 2, the game designed by Ubisoft Montreal, has sold more than 1.6 million copies in its first week, beating expectations set by the company and industry analysts.

Sales of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game were up by almost a third compared with sales of the original title, released in 2007, over the same time frame, Ubisoft said. Both games have received critical acclaim for their immersiveness, backed by graphical and audio artistry.

Assassin’s Creed 2, which puts players in control of an assassin in Renaissance-era Europe, has a rating of 92 out of 100 on review aggregate website Metacritic.

Analysts expected sales to be lower because of the tough economic climate and because Assassin’s Creed 2 is targeted at the same audience as Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which was also released earlier this month.

Modern Warfare 2 has smashed all sorts of records, with more than 4.7 million units sold in the United States and United Kingdom in its first day and revenue topping $310 million U.S.

With a price tag of around $60, Assassin’s Creed 2 is expected to have pulled in close to $100 million U.S. in its first week.

Wedbush Morgan analyst Edward Woo told website TG Daily that Ubisoft’s game is on track to sell six million units by the end of December.

The game was developed mostly by Ubisoft’s Montreal operation, which is one of the largest game studios in the world. The Montreal studio produces most of the French companies top hits, including several Tom Clancy games.
