When apple released both the iPad and the iPhone devices, they changed the mobile gaming world in a huge way and now, with millions having already pre-ordered the Amazon Kindle Fire, it is thought that when it is released next week with thousands of gaming apps, it could change the gaming world even further.
When the Amazon Kindle Fire is released next week, there will be thousands of applications available from the release date for anyone that purchases the budget tablet PC. Users will be able to download any applications from the Amazon Android App store which is already known to have thousands of gaming apps and has brought gaming to many other Smartphone’s and tablet PC devices. Another thing about the Amazon App Store is that it offers a free paid app every day to its users which means that there will be a huge number of free games up for grabs.
Social gaming is one of the things that the Amazon Kindle Fire could be great for as the Amazon app store has apps such as Zynga apps, Facebook and more. All of these offer a lot in terms of social gaming and it is thought that despite being a budget tablet, it could be one of the best on the market when it comes to gaming.

The company is well known for their position in the gaming market and this week, they launched a number of tablets that they are saying will come preloaded with a number of great games for consumers.
The tablet PC’s that have been launched by GameStop have been listed on their website and there are actually a few to choose from depending on how much you would like to pay. All of the tablet PC’s come with the Android operating system and they come preloaded with games such as Dead Space and Madden NFL. As well as this, all of the tablets that have been put on sale by GameStop give the users access to other GameStop app store which will allow them to purchase more well known titles on their devices. The tablets will still have access to the Android app store as well which will allow gamers to purchase many of the other popular games including Angry Birds.
Currently, there is no real tablet PC out there that has been aimed at high end games and it is thought that GameStop may corner the market with this innovative approach to tablet computing. The tablet’s are available from the GameStop website as well as a number of stores.

There are a lot of studies that say computer games is bad for your health. Well, you can see why. Computer games and video games just let you sit down, and sitting down for very long periods of time everyday is detrimental to your health. There was one research that explains this. Whenever you eat, you gain blood sugars, and these blood sugars need to get burned by moving around. Now, if you don’t move around and just sit down all day, then the blood sugars don’t get burned. Their level increase within your body, and while it increases it puts your body in danger.

Playing Games Help Cure Parkinson’s Disease

However, let us present to you a new study that goes the other way. While it doesn’t say anything about sitting down, it claims that computer games could help cure Parkinson’s disease. If you don’t know what a Parkinson’s disease is, it is a neuromuscular disease that is known for making those afflicted constantly shake, it slows down movements as well, aside from other negative effects on the nerves and muscles.

For this disease, it’s obvious that sitting all day long in front of the television is not going to help. Well, aside from the fact that if you don’t move too much then you’re going to lessen the possibility of tripping or falling down the stairs, but aside from that there aren’t going to be any more advantages. So, it makes it so obvious that his research is definitely talking about a game that requires movement. Yes, there are games now that are available via Wii that helps people with Parkinson’s improve on their movements. These games are highly specialized and they come with different levels that would help patients suffering on different levels of the disease. They could also change levels depending on how they are already improving.

NetPlay has this week announced that they are expecting to see some of their most impressive year end results so far after a year of attracting many more customers and releasing a variety of new products.
The NetPlay company has said that throughout the year, their performance has continued to improve and they actually saw more than a 50 percent rise in casino players in the third quarter of this year when compared to the same quarter last year. NetPlay says that they now have around 245,000 casino players which is a good amount for the company.
As well as this, NetPlay has also increased revenue when it comes to their TV on demand services. The company has recently released an iPhone application which they said has allowed them to acquire customers from a new area; mobile. This has increased the amount of customers that they have for their services.
NetPlay’s year end results come as a welcome result as the company did not have a great time last year. The NetPlay Companies tough time last year caused them to restructure the company entirely after a new gaming format didn’t do quite as well as expected. However, it seems that this paid off as the company is growing fast.

Have you ever been frustrated that some great titles are sold at high prices? Today, 2 great games have been featured in Steam’s Today’s Deal and Midweek Madness sale events.

Today’s Deal features Crysis, along with the standalone expansion Crysis: Warhead, and a bundle that contains both games. Crysis is a very well respected first person shooter as a Singleplayer campaign, and its graphics have been the benchmark for long after release. The offer ends in less than 24 hours from now, so you should better hurry if you are interested.

The Midweek Madness offer concerns Portal 2, and features a bundle that contains Portal along with Portal 2. In the current offer, Portal 2 comes with the newly released DLC Peer Review free of charge.

The special discount items are the following:

Crysis 75% down, at $7.49 down from $29.99

Crysis: Warhead 75% down, at $7.49 down from $29.99

Crysis Complete Pack (contains Crysis and Crysis: Warhead) 75% down, at $14.99 down from $59.99

Portal 2 50% down, at $14.99 down from $29.99

Portal Bundle (contains Portal and Portal 2) 50% down, at $17.49 down from $34.98

Portal 2 is the sequel to the popular first person, dimensional puzzle game. The Singleplayer mode of Portal 2 introduces a cast of new characters, a plenty of new puzzle elements, and many more test chambers than the original Portal has offered. Portal 2 features environments rebuilt by GlaDOS from the ruined Aperture Science Labs. Portal 2 also features the new two-player co-op mode, which has an entirely standalone campaign with its own unique story, test chambers, and its 2 new player characters.

In Crysis, you play the role of an elite soldier sent in a nano suit with a small squad in a rescue mission. You have such super abilities as high speed, incredible strength and cloaking, which you can utilize to complete your mission. But the mission is interrupted as an alien race enters the battlefield, and you since then have no way to go but to fight for your survival. You will get to develop your suit and use alien technology. The game has a solid engine and has been the graphical benchmark in PC gaming for a few years.

Also, for whoever is interested, The Witcher 2: Assassins of the Kings Digital Premium Edition is still on a 25% discount, and Sniper: Ghost Warrior: Gold Edition is still on a 40% discount.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, developed by Arkane Studios and published by Ubisoft, might sound like kind of an outdated game. In fact, the game’s graphics, besides being beautiful at the time, are kind of outdated now out of necessity. But graphics aren’t the only thing that makes a game. Heck, Tetris is still a respected classic in the gaming world, and it just has no graphics. The element that brings Dark Messiah to this spotlight and makes it an outstanding game even now is its melee combat mechanics.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic was the first and last game to feature this complex melee combat system. Even the game that was the lead first-person role playing game in Dark Messiah’s era, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, didn’t feature other than the ridiculously-simple CS-style melee combat, far from being as creative as Dark Messiah’s.

Dark Messiah uses an enhanced version of Valve’s Source engine, and features a melee combat system where the combatant isn’t a whole hitbox, but rather an assembly of the body and a separate hitbox for the weapon! As a result, when you swing your weapon against an enemy fighter, your swords will occasionally clash, causing sparks to emit. In addition to the graphical enhancements to the engine, ragdoll animations were also implemented for alive characters. This means that you can make your enemies fall before you kill them and it adds a huge variation to the combat. When you make an enemy fall, you may stab them with your sword in the middle of their body to prevent them from ever getting up again. You can kick them off high places, you can do whatever, and all in first person view!

This video shows melee combat gameplay footage in the Warrior path trailer.

There are 3 categories of melee weapons, swords, knives and staffs. Swords are the standard melee combat weapons. Knives are always a dual wield. They do less damage and have a lesser range than swords. Their use is mainly in backstabbing, beside them being throwable at special occasions. They also swing so swiftly, they can be a true fun to fight with. Staffs are the least useful in dealing damage in melee combat, they are best used to knock your enemies back because of their long range.

The combat system features 4 simple actions: simple attack, power/composite attack, block/parry, and the kick.

The simple attack consists of clicking the attack button once, and results in your character swinging the weapon instantly, casting a spell or charging your bow (by holding). If you keep clicking, your character will swing the weapon continuously.

The block/parry position is activated when holding the right mouse button. In that position, your character will automatically block any incoming attack, regardless of the direction of the foe’s swing.

The composite attack requires holding the attack button while walking in a particular direction. That way, your character will hold the weapon back instead of instantly swinging it. When you release the button, your character will swing the weapon in a power attack, dealing much more damage than that of simple attacks. The direction you are moving in while starting to hold your weapon determines how you will hold it. If you are standing still, it would be a standard top-down swing. If you are walking forward or backward, the weapon would be held to land a straight forward hit with the weapon’s tip. If you are strafing, you would make a side swing. A skill you can learn will yield you the additional ability to jump and then release the attack button to land an even more powerful top-down swing with both of your hands.

The kick is a kick, as the name suggests. Kicking costs adrenaline, so you can’t use it forever. It’s used to push your enemies pack onto traps (such as spikes) or off cliffs (you will come a lot across this!) Also works to smash stuff such as small containers.

The combat system features a bunch of cool features. When you and an enemy release your power attacks against each other at the same time, that dramatic action of action fantasy movies would take place. You will stop in the static position of having your weapons clashing with you pushing and sparkling against each other, and if you are lucky you would be able to wipe away your enemy’s weapon. When you make an enemy fall, you can stab them in the middle of the body. It always kills with one hit unless it’s a boss.

There are also finishing moves. You can do a finishing move when your adrenaline meter, which rises as you fight, is full. All melee combat finishing moves are so cool that you will have to like them. For swords, a swing would cut off the head or a limb of an enemy and lay them dead. A forward thrust would make you penetrate them with your sword, then releasing it by pulling it while pushing the corpse. For knives, you can throw your knife and kill an enemy with one hit as the adrenaline move. Adrenaline moves don’t only work with melee combat, they also have effects on magic. The telekinesis spell for example will allow you to grab and throw living creatures as the adrenaline effect.

Archery is probably less entertaining because of the one-man-army role you play almost all of the game. But the mechanics are still good. When you charge an arrow in the bow, it shakes a bit at the beginning and then gradually settles. The shaking is too smooth that it adds the feel of a real bow and makes you even more involved in the game. As you upgrade your archery skill, your hand will shake less and you will become faster at reloading.

Dark Messiah offers an amazing variation of execution ways that it must take you really a lot to get tired of it. Archery, silent backstabbing, knife throwing, burning, freezing, pushing your enemies off cliffs, pushing them toward spikes, pushing them toward fire and igniting them, cutting their limbs off, penetrating them with a sword, stabbing them while fallen, killing them with environmental objects with telekinesis… and much, much more!

The game has a free-of-class system, with 3 main skill pages, each having its own hierarchy: the combat page, the spells page, and a miscellaneous one. The skills divided on those pages fit into 3 specializations, melee warrior, assassin, and wizard, and there are general ones.

The combat page contains skills that teach you more attack moves, skills that increase the power and critical chances of your attacks, and a skill that increases the accuracy and speed of your archery.

The spell page contains some miscellaneous spells such as night vision, telekinesis and heal, and of course offensive magic. Offensive magic contains a small bunch of familiar spells such as the explosive fireball, flamethrower, freezing, and lightning bolt (becomes a lightning chain when your adrenaline is full).

The miscellaneous page contains skills that increase the size of your health and mana bars and enhance the regeneration, the thievery skill (yields you the ability to backstab, makes you more silent and invisible at the last level,) in addition to some miscellaneous skills such as stamina increase.

You fight most of the way as a one man army against small bands of enemies. The 2 main factions that you fight against are the Undead and the Orc. The Undead warriors always show up as steel coated foot warriors or creepy mages. At the beginning of the game, you face the weak ones. Later you will face the Dark Knights, even more powerful steel coated warriors. The Orcs are those regular humanoid fighters, except they’re red here instead of green. They are much tougher than the Undead. They can break your parry, destroy your shields, and will occasionally hold you from the throat and throw you down.

The environmental threats mainly include spiders and zombies. There is also a load of huge monsters that you will come across, containing huge ugly cyclops who can hold and throw you around. There’s the spider queen of all of the nests you are gonna go through. There are occasional electricity casting dragons known as Pao Kais. There are still other things!

The game is rich with environments. It takes you through some cities, a ship level, some terrible, zombie infested underground dungeons, beautiful sea shore high cliffs with their cave tunnels, ruined cities, and a bunch of Undead citadels and dungeons.

Dark Messiah definitely remains a great game to try! The game retails for 10$ on Steam and has a downloadable demo. If you are interested, don’t hesitate to try it!

Here are more videos that show the gameplay of the Assassin’s path and the Mage’s path, and finally the launch trailer of the game.

The Battlefield 3 open beta went live 2 days ago on September 29 for all of the XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC, and will last until October 10. As we get our hands on it, we’ll present and discuss what it looks like in detail in this article!

The beta is literally open this time, meaning anybody from the public can download the game for free and join! That’s right, not only those who have prepurchased can join in. To join the beta on PC, you can click here and follow the instructions, or download the game from the free games section of the Origin store. The Origin software is required to run the beta on PC. For XBox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game will automatically appear on the PlayStation Network Store and XBox Live Marketplace. The beta is currently about 4 GB’s in size, feel free to download and enjoy! The full game will be released 2 weeks after the open beta is closed, on October 24.

The current available content features only one map in one game mode; Operation Metro, rush (up to 32 players), infantry only, presenting the new infantry combat mechanics.

A plenty of the new features have already shown up in this limited beta, which we will present below, such as the new design of guerilla combat areas, the new class specializations, and the use of flashlights. The infantry combat has advanced to a whole new generation.

In Battlefield: Bad Company 2, infantry combat areas consisted of bunches of countable models of small 1-3 floor buildings being placed in small densities, thus forming hamlets suited for infantry combat. But in Battlefield 3, the design was brought to a whole new level. The combat in Operation Metro offers nativeParisian streetand architecture design, and the buildings have up to 5 floors that you can freely walk on. Deploying your machine gun on one of the windows of those high floors and shooting at the soldiers coming through the opposite field is a brutal experience.

The environmental enhancements bring more beauty as well as more destruction potential to the game’s environments. Indoors are times richer with details than they were in Bad Company 2. New elements such as breakable lighting bulbs were added. There are vending machines, more types of public utilities such as seats, destructible environmental cars (not drivable), and generally more stuff everywhere. Although not all elements have yet been optimized for destruction, the ones that have been will do that in beautiful ways. Metro doors for example will fall off their positions with their glass breaking. And with a direct rocket, each of the metal doors would split apart into some bent pieces of metal with explosion marks.

One of the biggest features/changes could be the replacement of the Support class by the Medic, and giving the Medic’s abilities to the Assault. The new specialization the Assault soldier has now is too reasonable, while the new Support class is bloody enjoyable.

The Support class is practically the overwatch of his teammates, with the addition of the deployable bipods to light machine guns. The Support soldier is on a disadvantage in direct combat because of the high recoil of light machine guns. His best bet is to move behind the front line and deploy his LMG on tactical spots whether to defend a particular place or to provide a safer passage for his teammates by using suppressive fire against enemies.

When Dice first revealed this feature in the official blog, there were worries that people wouldn’t benefit from this feature due to the low teamplay spirit people usually have. But as I played, I found myself naturally providing perfect cover for my teammates and defense for the objectives without even bothering my mind thinking. What you’re gonna naturally do is choosing a tactical position, deploy your machine gun, and then starting to suppress your enemies.

The Assault is now the ideal class to carry the medkit and the defibrillators. The Sniper and the Support class that replaced the Medic are obviously optimized for fighting off the frontlines, which makes them unsuitable to have the medic specializations. The Engineer is already the medic of armor, and would lose his role by the removal of his Engineer kit. However, the Assault is both a frontline soldier and doesn’t lose his role by just removing his grenade launcher.

Breath control was added for snipers. You can now hold your breath with Shift button. Although, the effect isn’t as significant as it is in Call of Duty, because the rifle shak
es less and the steady effect is almost instant. Shots also hit the targets without a significant delay. But the ranges I got to snipe from were all short to medium, so I can’t picture the entire experience of sniping in BF3. All I can say is that it’s really easy in short range, but real long range sniping is still awaiting!

The game atmosphere doesn’t seem to be complete yet. As I tested the game, I didn’t feel it was as intense as Bad Company 2 is. That mostly revolves around auto voice messages, where soldier calls and auto cast communications in Bad Company 2 created most of the intensity and thrill in the atmosphere, and were the biggest factor in turning those robotic avatars into real living soldiers. The auto voice in the current beta phase of Battlefield 3 is of a lower density and intensity than it was in Bad Company 2, as far as I can see. Also, Operation Metro’s background is full of life as backgrounds are in Bad Company 2. But still, not all of the background animations are matched by sound effects (such as drop-planes flying on low altitudes.) The game’s atmosphere still has some work to be done on it.

All the weapons have new sound effects. The current sound effects are quite good. Grenades now have a metallic impact sound effect that gives a higher feeling of realism and mass in comparison to BC2′s kinda plastic sound effect. The grenade explosion sound is so satisfying, as all the other explosions are. However, the RPG-7 didn’t yet have a visual and sound effect when I used it.

The soldier movement became notably more dynamic, such as that when you prone while running, your soldier will jump onto the ground in a burst ahead instead of just stopping and prostrating in place. Your soldier will also automatically climb obstacles when you click space (as in Call of Duty) instead of just jumping normally. The screen also shakes a lot when you prostrate or g

et up, making those moves a disadvantage when you want to shoot. So you gotta choose when under fire: to shoot, or to get cover, can’t get both! More realistic, huh?

Between the new weapon attachments there are flashlights. Those thingies aren’t only useful for lighting up your way, but can also blind your enemies, with fantastic visual effects. Those flashlights work exactly as they did work in the old tag game we used to play in the woods when we were children; the light would give you a clearer sight, but would reveal your place. That’s what happens in Battlefield 3, the flashlights are so powerful that they can be spotted from above fifty meters away, and they would almost blind your enemy in short ranges in poorly lighted indoors. I’ve so far spotted a plenty of noobish snipers who have lighted their flashlights in the daylight. You just can’t miss those signs.

The beta still contains a plenty of bugs. Considering the beta ends only half way toward the release of the game, it’s expected that gamers will see the solution of most of the current bugs and sense real polishing of the game before the beta ends. The first beta update has already been released, being the fix for many bugs, as well as enhancing some of the gameplay mechanics. Also, we don’t know whether the currently available content will be extended to include more maps, game modes and vehicles or not.

Funnily, the current game interface is actually the Battlelog* itself, and it’s not explained whether it will remain like this or it’s just temporary. In either case, it’s necessary for Dice to develop an offline Battlelog client so players could access their singleplayer without the need of an online connection.

*(The Battlelog is a standalone online social network bound directly to player accounts that features real time player feed in addition to the common social network interactions between players.)

The game and the Battlelog are currently offered only in English. However, the Battlelog forums contain localized sections in 4 other languages, German, Spanish, French and Russian.
