Venezuela vs Peru Preview

Venezuela vs Peru

Competition – Copa America

Stadium – Grêmio Arena

Date: 15th June 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT

These teams have always served up some exciting games when they meet each other and we could be in for another thrilling encounter here again.

Both of these sides come into this Copa America in inconsistent form.  Venezuela ended a run of three games without a win when they beat USA 3-0 in their last warm up game, while Peru were beaten 3-0 by Colombia in their last warm up game.

Venezuela will be keen to make a good start and set themselves up to finish second is this group as Brazil look set to take top spot.  They haven’t had manyproblems scoring goals but they seem to always struggle to stop teams from scoring so it will be interesting how they have improved defencively here.

Peru come here after being easily beaten 3-0 by Colombia and it could be tough for them to get the edge in this closely matched game.

The Peruvians beat Costa Rica 1-0 in their penultimate game, but their defeat against Colombia raises more questions about how they can survive attacks from teams in this competition.

Bookmakers have priced Peru up as very slight favourites to come out on top in this game however the odds are extremely close and Venezuela are in with a real shout according to oddsmakers.

Goal markets point to a tight game as under 2.5 goals is trading strongly odds-on at present while Paolo Guerrero and Jose Salomon Rondon are vying for favourtism in the first goalscorer market.
