Sweden vs Chile Preview

Sweden are still celebrating their world cup qualification and credit to them for how they dug deep and got the 1-0 aggregate win over Italy as they prepare to appear at the world Cup for the first time since 2006.

Chile were expected to be one of the first teams to qualify for the World Cup in Russia given that they have won the last two Copa America titles, but they had a poor spell of form towards the end of qualifying and they failed to qualify.

They will now be preparing the next generation of stars for the 2022 edition.

These two sides’ one and only meeting came in the build up to the 2006 world cup – on that day Sweden led Chile at the break thanks to a first half goal by Henrik Larson however the Chileans equalized in the second half through David Suazo and it was Alexis Sanchez who was the South Americans’ biggest threat and that could be the case here again.
