Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Everton vs Tottenham Hotspur

Competition – Barclays Premier League

Stadium – Goodison Park

Date: 23rd December 2018

Kick-off time – 16:00 GMT

Marcos Silva has succeeded in stabilizing Everton this season after a slow start to his reign, yet the Toffees have failed to beat any of the traditional big six teams for a long time.

Everton were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City in their last league game and that was the 16th time they have lost to a big six side in 22 games.

While they tend to beat teams that are lower in the league table, their draw against Chelsea is the only time they have picked up points against a top six team this season and they will want to end that run in this game.

Tottenham come into this game with their confidence at a high level after they beat Arsenal 2-0 in the Carabao Cup in midweek.

That was sweet revenge on their rivals after falling to a 4-2 defeat on the same ground earlier in the season.

The Lilywhites needed a late goal to see off Burnley in their last Premier League game, but that win means they have won 13 of 17 Premier League games this season.

Tottenham have also reached the knockout stages of the Champions League and Dele Alli has returned from injury in fine goal scoring form.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men should fancy taking all three points from this game especially as they have won 8 of their last 10 away games in the league, but Everton haven’t lost a home game the last 6 times they have been hosts so this should be an interesting match to watch.

Tottenham haven’t lost any of their last 11 Premier League games against Everton and they have won 6 of those matches.

Bookmakers have priced Tottenham up as steady favourites to come out on top while Harry Kane is clear favourite to score the first goal.
