Tottenham Hotspur vs Borussia Dortmund Competition – Champions League Stadium – Wembley Date: 13th February 2019 Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT
Tottenham are arguably one of best run clubs in the world. The Lilywhites haven’t signed a single player over the past one year and have been ravaged by injuries to key players, yet they are currently 3rd in the Premier League table, just behind Liverpool by 5 points. Mauricio Pochettino’s men did suffer exits from both the FA Cup and Carabao Cup over the past few weeks, however, they remain one of the most consistent teams ahead of this game against Borussia Dortmund. They have won their last three consecutive home league games and it seems like they have made Wembley a fortress again ahead of this game. It will be interesting to see how this match turns out against a strong German side. Borussia Dortmund are having one of their best seasons in recent memories as they head to North London. Since the departure of Jurgen Klopp in 2015, the Germans have struggled to compete with Bayern Munich, however, they are doing very well this season under the leadership of Lucien Favre. They currently top the Bundesliga table by 5 points and finished top of their Champions League group which had Atletico Madrid, Club Brugge, and AS Monaco. Despite their current form, they should be worried about Spurs as the Lillywhites did beat them home and away in this competition last season. The return of Jadon Sancho to England is one of the side attractions in this game and it will be interesting to see if he can give a performance on this shore. Bookies have priced Tottenham up as steady favourites to come out on top in this opening leg. Goal markets point to a lively game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Heung-Min Son and Paco Alcacer are joint favourites to score the opening goal of the game.
