Brazil vs Mexico Preview

Brazil vs Mexico

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Samara Arena

Date: 2nd July 2018

Kick-off time – 15:00 GMT

Brazil came into this World Cup as favourites once again, but their campaign started on a shaky note as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Switzerland.

Their next game against Costa Rica was even more shocking as they had to wait until added time to finally score against the underdogs.  That game eventually ended in a 2-0 win for them.

In their last group match against Serbia they needed to win to advance and they did so with much more ease than their previous games beating the Europeans 2-0.

This game sees them play an impressive Mexico side who beat World Champions Germany and they should be prepared for a tricky ride from the Central Americans.

Mexico started their campaign in impressive fashion as they surprised World Champions Germany with a 1-0 win after pressing the Germans throughout the game.

They beat South Korea 2-1 in their second group game to confirm their qualification to this round.

However, in their last group game against Sweden they completely lost the plot and were surprisingly beaten 3-0 by the Europeans who needed to win.

While that last game was not needed, you don’t want to face Brazil after losing momentum and they could struggle to get past the Selecao here.

Nevertheless that loss was Mexico’s first competitive defeat in more than a year so they could bounce back and surprise Brazil.

Brazil are currently trading as odds-on favourites to come out on top in this tie.
