Liverpool and Manchester United suffered contrasting fortunes in midweek in the Champions League.
Liverpool needed to win 1-0 with a clean sheet or by two clear goals to reach the round, and the Reds achieved just that in front of a packed Anfield.
Manchester United needed to beat Valencia and hope that Young Boys beat Juventus for them to top their group ahead of the Italians however the Red Devils fell to a 2-1 defeat instead despite getting some help from Young Boys in an unexpected manner.
These two giants of English football take their focus back to the Premier League for this game as the Reds look to remain at the top of the league table, while Manchester United look to avoid falling further off the top of the league table.
Liverpool head into this game as league leaders after winning 13 of 16 league games and they remain the only unbeaten team at the moment.
The Reds should expect Manchester City to temporarily return to the summit when they face Everton earlier on Saturday, so this game is a must win game for them.
Jurgen Klopp will be with only two fit centre-backs after Joel Matip pulled up injured on Tuesday to join Joe Gomez in the treatment room while Trent Alexander-Arnold is also a major doubt.
Jose Mourinho’s men will be delighted to hear about Liverpool’s injury list and they will look to exploit an expected makeshift defence on Sunday.
The Red Devils rested several of their first team players for their game against Valencia so they will have a fresher team when this game kicks off on Sunday.
Manchester United haven’t lost against Liverpool in the Premier League in 4 games however Liverpool are currently trading as strong odds-on favourites to get the job done.
Goal markets point to goals as over 2.5 goals is trading odds-on while Mohamed Salah is bookies favourite to score the first goal closely followed by Daniel Sturridge and Divock Origi.
