Internazionale vs Empoli Preview

Inter Milan will be looking to secure a Champions League spot when they take on Empoli in this final game of the season, while the visitors will be looking avoid a defeat so they can avoid being relegated.

Inter Milan were thrashed 4-1 by Napoli in their last league game to move them to 4^th position in the league table.

They are just 1 point above their city rivals Milan ahead of the final round of matches and are behind surprise team of the season Atalanta on goal difference.

Apart from their loss to Napoli in their last game, the home side haven’t been doing badly recently.  They were unbeaten in seven games before that defeat and had played the likes of Juventus, Roma and Atalanta in that run of games.

Fans now fancy them to get back to winning ways and if chosen to play, Mauro Icardi could take out his frustration of missing out on the Copa America on this poor Empoli side.

Empoli head into this final game of the season still unsure of safety.  They are currently just outside the relegation zone by a single point over Genoa.

Either side can survive the drop if they win their final game and the other falters.

Genoa play away at Fiorentina, so Empoli would be keen to upset odds and get a win here to guarantee safety.

Bookmakers have priced Inter Milan up as extremely strong odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while Empoli are priced up as if they need a miracle to happen in order to come out on top.

The only saving grace for Empoli is that Fiorentina are favourites to beat Genoa which would mean Empoli stay up however leaving their fate in the hands of Fiorentina is not something they want to do.

Goal markets point to a lively game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Mauro Icardi is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
