Real Madrid will be looking to go into their Champions League game next week top of La Liga when they visit Atleti in this game, but the host knows they can’t afford to miss the chance to topple their illustrious visitors here.
The home side come into this game after securing a 2-0 win over Real Mallorca away from home. They are currently joint-second in the league table and will be eager to enter the new week as leaders.
Atleti have remained one of the toughest sides to break down at the back and they survived a couple of scares in midweek to end the game with a clean sheet.
Real Madrid is top of the league at this stage but that is more as a result of their competitors not playing at their very best at the moment. Los Merengues will be looking to earn a win here and extend their advantage at the top, but that could be easier said than done.
Real Madrid has kept a clean sheet in their last two league games having earned hard-fought victories over Sevilla away and Osasuna at home in midweek.
Madrid are travelling to a venue that the host has won 10 of their last 13 games. However, Madridistas will be quick to remember that they were the last team to win at the Wanda Metropolitana so that should give them the confidence of earning another victory here.
