Brest host Tours at the Stade Francis-Le Ble this Monday evening in France Ligue 2.

Brest come into this tie unbeaten in 5 with wins coming over Arles (1:0) and Nancy (2:0) and 3 draws over Châteauroux, Sochaux and Nîmes.

Brest are currently 7th in France Ligue 2 and a win could move them as high as 2nd place.

Tours come into this match off the back of 4 losses against Angers, Arles, Nancy and Sochaux.

They did manage to win 4:3 over Orléans in between these losses however they were 3:0 up in that game and cruising before losing 3 sloppy goals and having a man sent off.  Luckily they managed to get the winner and all 3 points.

Tours are currently 18th (relegation zone) and struggling having lost 6 of their opening 9 games – a win tonight could move them as high as 12th.

These two sides have met 8 times in recent years and Brest have won 4, Tours have won 2 and they have shared the points on 2 occasions.

The last 5 meetings between these two sides finished 2:0, 1:1, 2:0, 1:0 and 0:1.

Given Tours horrendous run of form of late, bookmakers make Brest slight odds-on favourites to come out on top in this tie (10/11), Tours are currently trading at odds of (7/2) and the draw is (21/10).

Ultimately this should be a very close game – on bare form and statistics Brest should come out on top however these two sides finished within one point of each other last season and although Tours are on a hideous run of form, they could spring a surprise given that they were the second highest scoring team in Ligue 2 last year with 63 goals in 38 games however they did have one of the worst defencive records.

Brest averaged one goal per game last season so it’s difficult to recommend at the odds they are currently trading at.
