This season’s La Liga was Barcelona’s for the taking, but the Catalans have faltered so much and allowed Atleti to close in and the Madrid based side head into this game in stunning form.
Messi helped Barca trash Girona last week and although they dropped points at Las Palmas in midweek, if the Argentinian is on the form as he was against Girona even Atleti’s reliably strong defence will struggle to cope with him.
The Catalans have a solid record against Atleti recently as they have not lost at home to the Madrid based side since Diego Simeone became manager.
Barca have collected an average of 2.67 points per home game this season and Messi is in good form with 4 goals in his last 3 league games and he should be a handful for Atleti here again.
Diego Simeone’s men scored 9 goals in their two league games last week, and the Partnership of Diego Costa and Antoine Griezmann is beginning to really kick-on.
Griezmann is in the form of his life and bagged a hattrick in both games this week including all four goals in their game against Leganes.
He has been linked with a move to Barca, so this game is the perfect audition for him.
