Stadium – Etihad Stadium

Date: 23rd March 2018

Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT

Argentina looked liked they would not make it the next summer’s FIFA World Cup at some point in the qualifying stage, but former Sevilla boss, Jorge Sampaoli came in and helped turned their form around, helping them avoid  defeat in their last 4 games.

They collected only 6 points from those matches, but it was enough to help them go 3rd in the South American qualification group.

After the qualification series, they played two friendlies, one ending in a 1-0 win over Russia, before a 4-2 loss to Nigeria.

They would be hoping to build some confidence with their next two friendlies against Italy and Spain.

Italy are shockingly not going to be at the next world cup after they finished second behind Spain in their qualifying group and lost 1-0 on aggregate  to Sweden in the playoffs.

That loss led to the sacking of Gian Pierro Ventura, his successor, Luigi Di Baggio will be looking to build the next generation of stars that can represent this footballing nation in the next big tournament.

They have won two, lost two and drawn three of their last seven games against Argentina.
