Portugal vs Morocco

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Luzhniki Stadium

Date: 20th June 2018

Kick-off time – 13:00 GMT

Portugal built their Euro 2016 triumph on a defencive tactic and many expected them to carry on the same style at this World Cup, however, their first game showed that to be untrue.

The Portuguese clashed with Spain on match day two of this World Cup and it was a thriller.

Portugal twice took the lead through Cristiano Ronaldo, but they were pegged back each time by a Diego Costa strike.  Nacho then gave the Spaniards the lead for the first in the game, only for Ronaldo to earn himself a hattrick two minutes from time to help the Portuguese team share the spoils.

Ronaldo has 84 goals in 151 games for the Portuguese national team now and he will be leading them to get their first win here.

Morocco made a far from ideal start to their World Cup campaign when they lost 1-0 to Iran.

However, we must admit that they North Africans were unlucky to concede a late own goal after impressing for much of their first World Cup game in 20 years.

That loss put an end to an 18 games unbeaten run for the Moroccans however, their opponents in those games cannot be compared to this Portuguese team.

Portugal are odds-on to overcome Morocco in this tie.
