Germany vs Sweden

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Fisht Olympic Stadium

Date: 23rd June 2018

Kick-off time – 19:00 GMT

Four years ago Germany lifted the World Cup after beating Argentina thanks to a Mario Götze goal.

They entered this year’s competition as one of the favourites yet again, but their display in their first match has made it a hard job for them to reach the knockout round now.

The Mexicans exposed the unusually slow German defence many times and when Javier Hernandez played in Hirving Lozano it was time the North Americans got rewarded for their efforts and they were.

Germany tried to get an equalizer and they came close a couple of times in the second half, but at the end of the day, they lost deservedly.

Germany most likely will have learnt a lesson or two ahead of this game.

The Germans have just one win in seven games, and they have conceded in 13 of their last 16 games.

Sweden deservedly won their first game 1-0 and it should have been more considering that their Asians opponents never came to the party.

They will be looking to take advantage of Germany’s poor run of form to get to the knockout round, but their defence will definitely have more work to do in this game as the Germans have scored in 17 of their last 20 games.

Sweden could get something out this game as they remain a tough side to beat and a win would see them through the knockout stage.

Sweden have only lost twice in their last nine games.

Bookmakers make Germany strong odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game.
