Iran vs Portugal

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Mordovia Arena

Date: 25th June 2018

Kick-off time – 19:00 GMT

Iran and Portugal face each other in a game that will decide who goes through from this group.

The Iranians need a win to go through, while the Portuguese just need to avoid losing.

Iran were fortunate to win their first game as they were on the back foot for most of the game, but the Moroccans were unlucky and scored an own goal in the dying minutes after keeping the ball away from Iran for much of the game.

Iran’s second game ended in a 1-0 loss to Spain.

These two games shows how defensively solid Iran is and they will be looking to keep in-form Cristiano Ronaldo in check throughout the duration of this game and hope that they can hit the European champions on the break.

Portugal’s first game was a thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain.

Cristiano Ronaldo was the star of the show, helping the Portuguese with three goals.

He netted yet again in their next game which ended in a 1-0 win over Morocco.

Apart from Ronaldo doing the damage up front, the Portuguese team is solid at the back with the trio of Pepe, Jose Fonte and Bruno Alves leading well just as they did when they won Euro 2016.
