Australia vs Peru

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Fisht Olympic Stadium

Date: 26th June 2018

Kick-off time – 15:00 GMT

Australia were expected to have been eliminated from the World Cup by the time this third game would be played, however, the Socceroos come into this last game with a chance of making it to the next round.

They started their competition with a tough match against France, and they nearly secured a draw before an unfortunate own goal saw them lose 2-1.

Their second match was even more impressive as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against the other group favourites Denmark despite going a goal down quite early.

Both of their goals at this competition have been penalties, benefiting from 14 penalties that have already been awarded thanks to VAR.

Australia need to get their first win here to have any chance of progressing.

Peru’s first appearance at a World Cup in over 30 years has been an unlucky one.

The South Americans are one of the most exciting teams to watch, but their undoing has been not being clinical in front of goal.

In their first match they had 17 shots on goal and were even awarded a penalty, yet they failed to score.

Both of their games have ended in 1-0 losses and they will have their bags packed by the time they take to the field here.

Bookmakers favour Peru to come out on top in this tie despite having no chance of progressing to the knockout round.
