Colombia vs England

Competition – FIFA World Cup

Stadium – Otkrytie Arena

Date: 3rd July 2018

Kick-off time – 19:00 GMT

Colombia are England’s next obstacle as the Three Lions look to get to the quarterfinals of this World Cup.

The Colombians started their campaign with a shocking 2-1 loss to Japan, however, that result was influenced by the fact that they had gone a goal and a man down inside the opening three minutes.

Their next game offered them the chance to get their campaign back on track and they did that in style, beating Poland 3-0.

They needed a win in their last game against Senegal and they eventually got it thanks to a Yerry Minna header on the 74th minute of the game.

They have not been as bright as they were 4 years ago, and James Rodriguez is most likely going to miss this game – it will be interesting to see how they perform here.

England are in the knockout stages of the World Cup with a team that looks like genuine contenders for the first time in a long time.

The Three Lions started their campaign with a 2-1 win over a stubborn Tunisia side.

Their next game was against debutants, Panama and England showed how much of a gap there is between the two nations as they raced to a 5-0 lead before half time.

That game eventually ended in a 6-1 win for Gareth Southgate’s men.

England’s last game against Belgium should have been an exciting match, however, the Three Lions and the Red Devils had already qualified so both teams fielded weakened sides and the Belgians won via a solitary goal.

England have been very impressive and unpredictable in this competition and with a fully fit team Colombia might be up against it here.

Bookmakers favour England to progress to the quarterfinals however the odds are close and Colombia are not a team that should be taken lightly .

Goal markets suggest this game will be very low-scoring so expect a tight affair.

These teams have met five times before now and England remain unbeaten against the South Americans.
