This game is the start of a tough run of fixtures guaranteed to test Real Madrid’s title credentials this season as they are hosted in one of the most hostile grounds this Wednesday.
Madrid have found good results hard to come by whenever they visit Sevilla, and the host present form that makes it even tougher this time around.
Sevilla have scored 11 goals in their last two games, the last of which was a 6-2 drubbing of Levante in Valencia and those goals were all scored by 60 minutes.
Interestingly, the likes of Roque Mesa and Quincy-Promes were on the bench for that game and that goes to show how much strength in depth this Sevilla team has.
Madrid had a torrid time at the weekend when they played Espanyol.
Although they eventually won the game 1-0 thanks to a Marco Asensio goal, it wasn’t the best of performances from them as they struggled without Gareth Bale who was rested.
Madrid should expect an even tougher game this time.
The last time they won at Sevilla was in 2015, and since that time they have been defeated on three consecutive occasions.
With the Madrid derby coming up at the weekend, they will want to get a morale-boosting result here.
Despite the above, bookmakers make Real Madrid odds-on favourites to come out on top while betting markets strongly suggest we will see 3 or more goals.
