Valencia vs Barcelona Preview

Valencia vs Barcelona

Competition – Spanish Primera

Stadium – Estadio Mestalla

Date: 7th October 2018

Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT

Barcelona start a tough run of fixtures when they visit Valencia in this game, and they will be looking to build on their midweek win at Wembley to get them through this fixture.

Valencia set the bar high for themselves last season when they finished inside the top four.

Their qualification to the Champions League provided them with some funds to strengthen their squad, but those players seem to have found it hard to settle in so far.

They earned a 0-0 draw against an unmotivated Manchester United side in midweek to continue their resurgence however this game may bring what they have been building in recent weeks crashing down.

Valencia secured their first win of the season last weekend.

Prior to that they drew 5 of 6 games, and they seem to have problems offensively as they have scored just 5 goals in 7 league games so far.

Valencia are unbeaten in their last 5 league games however with just one win coming from those 5 matches, their fans will expect more after last season’s success.

After going 3 games without a win, Barcelona stormed to a 4-2 victory in their Champions League game against Tottenham at Wembley on Wednesday.

However, they are back in La Liga for this fixture and it hasn’t been a good few weeks for them there.

They have lost one and drawn two of their last three league games, and are miraculously still top of the league table because Real Madrid have their own demons troubling them at the moment.

Barcelona were on the verge of another loss in their last league game against Athletic Bilbao before an 85 minute goal from El Munir salvaged a 1-1 draw for them.

Surprisingly, 2 of their last 3 winless games have been played at home.

They play Sevilla, Inter Milan, and Real Madrid after the international break, so they have to get a good result from this game.

They have won 2 and lost 1 of their 3 away games in the league so far.

Bookmakers believe Barcelona will come away from the Mestalla with all 3 points as they are currently trading odds-on with bookmakers.
