Poland haven’t made an ideal start to their Euro Nations League campaign and their double header this month started with a loss to Portugal on Thursday evening.
Their visitors are also not in the best of form as Roberto Mancini bids to return Italy to the top of European football again.
Portugal blew Poland away on Thursday and that result means that the Poles haven’t won any of their last three games.
After a poor World Cup, they were expected to start their Euro Nations League with extra motivation, but they haven’t quite hit their stride yet.
They are expected to battle with the Italians for the remaining spot in the competition as Portugal have 5 points more than them.
Italy should be happy if they survive relegation from this tier however that is not the most important thing for them at this moment.
Roberto Mancini is trying out different players and systems as they look to get a team capable of competing against top European sides.
They drew against Ukraine on Wednesday – a result that means they haven’t won any of their last five games.
Italy have won just one game since Mancini was appointed as their manager.
They have a talented team at the moment, but they also have a very un-Italian defence as they have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 8 matches.
There has been just one away win in the last seven meetings between these two sides.
Despite the above, bookmakers have priced Italy up as early favourites for this game however the odds are extremely close and a wave of money could see Poland start the game as favourites.
