Real Madrid fans will all be praying for 2019 to be a better year than the last part of 2018.
This year still started poorly for them as they played out a 2-2 draw with Villarreal and lost shockingly at home to Real Sociedad (2:0).
However, last week they put in a solid performance to win against Leganes 3-0 in the Copa del Rey and their fans would hope that they can take that form to La Liga as well.
They have had some impressive results on the road this season including a 2-0 win at Roma and a string of high-scoring displays at the Club World Cup.
Real Betis, on their part, haven’t started the year brightly; they were beaten 2-1 at bottom-of-the-table Huesca in their first game of the New Year before drawing a blank in a 0-0 draw against Real Sociedad.
It is hard to see them get back to winning form with a win in this game, however, Real Madrid’s inconsistent form also means they cannot be trusted fully to exploit Betis in this game.
Betis have not been beaten at home since November – that is 8-matches in and it will be interesting to see if Madrid can break that run here.
Surprisingly, bookmakers have priced Real Madrid up as odds-against favourites to come out on top in this tie. Goal markets point to a lively game while Karim Benzema and Loren Moron are joint favourites to score the opening goal of the game.
