Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain Preview

Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain

Competition – Champions League

Stadium – Old Trafford

Date: 12th February 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT

This is arguably the biggest test that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will face until now as the interim manager of Manchester United.

The much-loved Norwegian has engineered one of the most important recoveries in the club’s history after taking over temporarily in December.

He heads into this game with 10 wins and one draw from 11 games.

There is hardly any other place where a manager has started this good.

Their 3-0 win over Fulham highlighted one of the major improvements the Red Devils have enjoyed, which is the return to form of Paul Pogba.

The French midfielder has now netted 8 times under Solskjaer and he will be very important to them in this game.

PSG may have wished to face Manchester United at a different time from now.

While things seem to be falling into place for Manchester United at the moment, the opposite seems to be true for the French champions.

They come to England having lost just a single league game this season, but they will be without Neymar, Edinson Cavani and Thomas Meunier who have been very important for them all season long.

Having spent so much money, European triumph is a must for Thomas Tuchel if he is to keep his job beyond this season.

The absence of Cavani and Neymar doesn’t mean that PSG don’t have the players to get a result from this game.

With Kylian Mbappe, anything can happen.

When you add a Di Maria who will be eager to show what he can do on his return to Old Trafford, then you can assume that this game will be a cracker that will hopefully have goals.

From a betting perspective, bookies have priced Manchester United up as steady favourites to come out on top before heading to Paris for the return leg.

Goal markets point to a high-scoring game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Kylian Mbappe is favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
