Celtic vs Valencia Preview

Celtic vs Valencia

Competition – UEFA Europa League

Stadium – Celtic Park

Date: 14th February 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT

Brendan Rodgers has done a great job since he moved north of the border to manage Celtic.

The former Liverpool manager has won every major trophy in Scotland over the past two seasons and he is on course to win the same trophies in three consecutive seasons which is something that hasn’t been done before.

Despite their dominance of the Scottish game, success in Europe has proved too hard for them and they may have reached the end of the road again this season.

They struggled to get out of the group stage of the Europa League this season and having been matched with an impressive Valencia side, it is hard to see Brendan Rodgers’ men getting beyond this stage now.

Valencia started their season in the Champions League and a poor run of form saw them drop into this competition.

They however, didn’t drop here without a fight as they beat Manchester United 2-1 in their last group game.

Valencia have improved since the turn of the New Year.  They come into this game having lost just once in their last 9 games, and held Barcelona to a 2-2 draw in one of their recent games.

The Spaniard’s are making a late attempt to finish inside a European place in the La Liga table and they might just have too much quality for Celtic to cope with.

Bookmakers have priced Valencia up as favourites to come out on top in this opening leg.

Goal markets point to a low-scoring affair as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Kevin Gameiro and Odsonne Edouard are joint favourites to score the opening goal of the game.
