Japan vs Chile Preview

Japan vs Chile

Competition – Copa America

Stadium – Estadio Cicero Pompeu de Toledo (Morumbi)

Date: 17th June 2019

Kick-off time – 23:59 GMT

Chile begin their Copa America defence with this game against Japan, however, there isn’t much hope for this team based on their current form and a bad performance in this game may confirm Chilean’s worst nightmare.

Chile have won the last two Copa America titles but head into this game in a poor run of form that has seen them beat just Haiti narrowly in their last three games.

This will most likely be the last competition that the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Arturo Vidal ever compete in for Chile and they would want to leave with a bang. Winning this competition should be very tough this time around with Brazil, Argentina and Colombia all looking good.

Japan come here determined to make the most of their invitation and upset the odds.  They have been in a fine run of form, winning two of their last three games against El Salvador and Bolivia.

They have also kept a clean sheet in all three of those games so they should feel as confident as ever to get something from this game.

Japan has only lost twice in their last 16 games.

Bookmakers have priced Chile up as strong odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while Japan will start the game as unfancied outsiders.

Goal markets point to a tight game as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Alexis Sanchez is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game.

This game gets underway at 00:00 BST.
