AC Milan vs Benfica Preview

Milan began this summer by asking UEFA to exempt them from the Europa League having failed to make the Champions League at the end of last season.  They are still looking to bring back the glory days under their former owner.

While Inter seems to be making more progress having qualified for the last two Champions Leagues, Milan will be hoping this campaign without European football can help them launch a successful assault on the Italian top four.

Milan are one of the late entrants into this summer’s International Champions Cup and come here having played just one game in the competition so far.

They were beaten 1-0 by Bayern Munich in that game and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways here ahead of their match against Manchester United next Saturday.

Benfica remain a powerhouse in the Portuguese game and are one of the best teams when it comes to molding talents for bigger European sides.

They have lost Jao Felix this summer and their fans would be eager to see who steps up among the remaining players.

They still have some good players in their ranks who would be dreaming of making the move to a bigger European side sooner or later.

Benfica have been impressive so far in pre-season having beaten both Guadalajara and Fiorentina before this game.  They would want to maintain momentum by winning here again ahead of their Super Cup clash against Sporting Lisbon next Sunday.
