Sweden vs Norway Preview

Sweden vs Norway

Competition – Euro 2020 Qualifying

Stadium – Friends Arena (Solna)

Date: 8th September 2019

Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT

Sweden and Norway renew their rivalry as they both look to qualify for the next Euros and they have both come here in good form.

In a group that also has Spain, both of these sides would know that a second-place finish is probably all that is on offer so that makes this game a more important one to win.

Sweden come here after beating San Marino 4-0 away from home in their last qualifier.  That win helped them to remain 2nd in the table behind favourites and leaders, Spain.

Norway beat Malta in their last game as well and remain just 2 points behind their host in 3rd position on the group table.  A win for Norway would push them above Sweden while a win for Sweden would put them 5 points clear of Norway.

Both of these sides met on Matchday 4 and the Swedes managed to collect a point following a 3-3 draw away.  Norway would be hoping to at least get something out of this game as well and they do have the players to hurt this Swedish side.

Sweden has found a way to get wins whenever they play at home and they look like they can secure another one here albeit a narrow one.

Norway doesn’t have a lot of goals in them and it will be interesting to see how they respond if they fall behind in this game.

Bookmakers have priced Sweden up as odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while Norway will start the game as underdogs.

Goal markets point to a tight affair as under 2.5 goals is trading odds-on prior to kick-off while Marcus Berg is clear favourite to score the opening goal of the game.
