Atalanta vs Manchester City Preview

Atalanta welcome Manchester City in this game looking to get a win that would keep them playing European football after the group stage while Manchester City come here looking for a win that would send them through to the next round.

After enjoying a solid campaign last season that saw them reach the Champions League ahead of the likes of AC Milan and Lazio, Atalanta has struggled for form this season.

The Italians seem to have cracked under the weight of combining participation in Europe’s top competition and the Serie A and the result has been a very inconsistent season.

After picking up a 2-2 draw at Napoli in the previous game week, Atalanta suffered a 0-2 home loss against Cagliari ahead of this game.  That was their second loss in 6 games with the other four ending in two draws and two wins.

Manchester City just came off another solid weekend in their bid to catch Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.

The Cityzens were behind Southampton at home for long periods of time before eventually sealing a 2-1 win over the Saints.  Over at Villa Park, Liverpool left it late too before coming from behind to beat Villa with two late goals.

They remain behind the Reds by 6 points but they have won all of their Champions League games this season and they would reach the knockout stages if they record another win here.
