Fenerbahce vs Austria Vienna Competition – Europa League Stadium: Ulker Stadyumu Date: 25th August 2022 Kick-off time – 18:00 GMT
Fenerbahce will look to book their place in the group stage of the 2022/23 Europa League when they welcome Austria Vianna to Ülker Stadyumu this Thursday. The hosts have done half of the job of qualifying after winning the first leg 2-0 in Austria courtesy of goals from Josh King and Serdar Dursun. They come into this tie on the back of a 4-2 win over Adana Demirspor in theie domestic league, to put themselves at the top of the Turkish Super Lig table. That win also extended their unbeaten run in competitive games to 18 games. Given that they have won 13 of their last 18 games, they will come into this tie as the favourites to win and progress to the next round. Meanwhile, after a disappointing showing in Vianna, Austria Vienna will look to overturn a two-goal deficit when they travel to Istanbul on Thursday. The visitors followed up their first leg loss with a 2-1 win over Wolfsberger in the Austrian Bundesliga. That win was just their second win in the domestic league this season, showing how off-colour and out of form they have been in this campaign. Their major setback this term has been caused by a porous defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in any competitive match this season. To get anything from this tie, they will have to tighten up at the back to avoid a drubbing against a Fenerbahce side that has scored 3+ goals in each of their last three home games.
