Michael Van Gerwen 9 Dart Finish – 2013 PDC World Darts Championship Semi-Final

Michael Van Gerwen threatened two 9 dart finishes against Adrien Lewis in his quarter final match hitting 6 perfect darts followed by 7 perfect darts.   He defeated James Wade in the semi-final 6-4 in an enthralling match at the Ally Pally which saw Michael Van Gerwen hit a 9 dart finish followed by 8 perfect darts in the very next leg.  No one has ever hit two 9 darters in consecutive legs and MVG fell short of double 12 to make history.  He admitted post-match that he has never hit two consecutive 9 darters in practice.

Dean Winstanley managed to hit a 9 dart finish earlier in the tournament against Vincent Van Der Voort and with Van Gerwen hitting one in the semi-final this means both players will split the £15,000 bonus for hitting a 9 dart finish providing Phil Taylor or Raymond Van Barneveld don’t hit one.
