Cheltenham Festival 2013 Day Four Tips – Gold Cup Day

The final day of the 2013 Cheltenham Festival is already upon us and Gold Cup day gives punters the opportunity to recoup their losses from the previous three days.  Day three saw Cue Card win the Ryanair Chase impressively while Solwhit was able to out-battle Celestial Halo in  the Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Day four tips

1:30 JCB Triumph Hurdle – Far West – Trainer Paul Nicholls is still looking for his first winner of the 2013 Cheltenham Festival and Far West represents a decent each-way bet having won its last four races.

2:05 Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle – Ted Veale – A very difficult 28 runner handicap, Ted Veale represents a decent each-way bet, lightly raced, ground and trip will suit, low in the handicap.

2:40 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle – At Fishers Cross – Managed to defeat The New One last time out who won earlier in the week and this form line is good enough to see At Fishers Cross go close.

3:20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase – Sir Des Champs – won the Jewson Novices’ Chase in 2012, has won 8 of his 10 career starts over jumps, step up in trip should suit, ground will suit, jockey is unknown because Davey Russell suffered an injury on Thursday but odds of 4/1 represent very good value.

4:00 CGA Foxhunter Chase Challenge Cup – Backstage – previously raced off a 16lb higher mark, hasn’t ran under rules since 2011 and may be worth an each-way bet in a race with many uncertainties.

4:40 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle – Edeymi – ran a very close second in the Fred Winter Juvenile Handicap Hurdle last year, still lightly raced compared to most in this field and open to improvement.

5:15 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase Challenge Cup – Tanks For That – ran second in this race last year and although hasn’t produced the same form since, showed enough ability last month to suggest a return to form at the highest level.
