#12 Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. #24 Texas Longhorns Preview

Earlier this season, the University of Texas Longhorns were 1-2 and had dropped out of the college football top 25 with consecutive losses to BYU, and then 25th ranked Ole Miss. Fans wanted head coach Mack Brown fired, but the Athletic Director for the school and the board of regents showed support for the embattled coach.

Since their last loss to Ole Miss, Texas has won 6 straight games, and one very big game against the 12th ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River shootout, their annual rivalry game.

In addition to defeating Oklahoma, the Long Horns have a chance to win the Big 12 Conference. They are currently sitting on top of the division at 6-0 with three games left on their schedule.

They host Oklahoma State on Saturday, November 16 at 3:30pm. ET. Oklahoma State is currently ranked 12th in the nation, and are also on a 5 game winning streak after being upset by West Virginia University earlier in the season.

The Longhorns will be trying to end a two game losing streak to Oklahoma State at home. The two losses came when the Cowboys were enjoying their best seasons ever, since their undefeated season in 1945.

The Longhorns have will have their hands fool though because Oklahoma State is 14th in the nation in scoring, averaging 40.7 points per game. They also play good defense, and are ranked 20th in the nation, allowing 19.7 points per game.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys have to contend with the Longhorns offense, which has shown it can keep up with most teams in a shootout, like the one they had against West Virginia University last week. They average 34.4 points a game, and are 37th in the nation in scoring.

Starting quarterback David Ash suffered a concussion earlier in the season, and his backup Case McCoy has done a good job leading the team.

Oklahoma State is in the midst of the toughest stretch of their schedule, having played 15th ranked Texas Tech two weeks ago, are going to play three straight ranked teams. Starting with #24 Texas, then #5 Baylor and their in state rivalry game with #18 Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys are going to have to find a way to win all these games if they want to win their conference, because the loss against West Virginia has them one game behind the two teams still undefeated in conference play.

Because of what is at stake for both teams, expect a close game right to the very end with the home field edge going to Texas.
