The 2014 Aintree Grand National Festival gets underway this Thursday where The New One is odds-on to land the feature race of the day – the Doom Bar Aintree Hurdle.
Our betting tips for Thursday are below.
2:00 – Injured Jockeys Fund 50th Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle – Guitar Pete has finished in the money on every start over jumps and could be worth an each-way bet at odds of around 7/1.
2:30 – Betfred Bowl Chase – First Lieutenant won this race last year and has solid form throughout to make him competitive here. Runs consistently well and seemingly runs well on big occasions.
3:05 – Doom Bar Aintree Hurdle – The New One finished 3rd in the Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy at Cheltenham in March and should be too strong for this field.
3:40 – Crabbie’s Supporting The Hillsborough Families Fox Hunters’ Chase – Mossey Joe loves to be up with the pace and in a race that will be run over the Grand National fences, this will suit strongly. Jockey has won last 4 races aboard this horse.
4:15 – Silver Cross Red Rum Handicap Chase – Anay Turge has finished in the money on 25 of 44 starts and could be a value each-way bet at odds of around 16/1 in what is a very competitive race.
4:50 – Pinsent Masons Manifesto Novices’ Chase – Dodging Bullets finished a close 4th in the Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase at Cheltenham in March and can build on that run today.
5:25 – Dominican Republic Handicap Hurdle – Big Easy ran well in the Ascot Stakes last summer (flat race) and is relatively unexposed over jumps – could be worth a look at odds of around 20/1 in a very competitive race.
