Germany’s World Cup starlet Toni Kroos has confirmed that he is set to join the 10-time European champions Real Madrid, but his agent played down talk of any agreement between Kroos and the Spanish giants.
The 24-year old Bayern Munich midfielder has had an excellent campaign with Germany in Brazil, culminating in the lifting of the World Cup title for a fourth time for his country; also the first time that a European side won the trophy on South American soil.
Kroos played a starring role in the team’s midfield strength that helped push off Argentina’s efforts at reaching Germany’s goal to enable the Germans secure a decisive 1-0 extra-time victory that gifted them the cup. He also scored two goals in the 7-1 walloping of Brazil in the semi-finals and finished the World Cup as the top creator with four assists.
The Bayern star made the confirmation that he would indeed be leaving the German champions for Bernabeu after Sunday’s final against La Albeceleste at the Maracana Stadium.
It was just a few weeks ago that the 24-year old was linked with a possible move to Madrid, though at the time he declined to comment on the rumors citing his need to concentrate on the World Cup finals. He can now reveal that he is heading to Spain this summer.
Kroos says that the fact that Germany finished the 2014 World Cup in the most rewarding way possible by being crowned champions and his joining of Real Madrid are two events in his football career that he considers as great dreams achieved!
But his agent Volker Struth is playing down the transfer move saying that nothing is concluded yet, and says he will be discussing Kroos’ future with him when he is back from Brazil this Tuesday. He adds that Kroos will be meeting him in Majorca, Spain on Tuesday after the World Champions are welcome back home to Berlin, and a decision on his future will have been made and announced by Wednesday morning.
