There was so much high hopes that this could be Liverpool’s season to finally win the Premier League as the returning of Sadio Mane from injury was accompanied by the signing of Mohammed Salah.
However, with a few weeks gone there is more scepticism as the Reds keep facing familiar defensive lapses.
They drew their last game against Newcastle which made it just one win from their last seven in all competitions.
They have won 5, drew 5 and lost two of their last 12 games.
Having been eliminated from the League Cup, they are also struggling in the Champions League.
To make matters even worse for them ahead of this game, they have lost Sadio Mane for the next six weeks.
His absence will be a huge miss for a team already struggling to create and score goals.
The Reds major problem is at the back as they have conceded 20 goals in just 12 games and have been without a clean sheet in their last 7 games.
Manchester United will be looking to continue their rich form at Anfield in this game.
The Red Devils have scored an incredible 32 goals in just 10 competitive games this season.
They have scored in all their competitive matches and have failed to win only one of those games.
With Jose Mourinho renowned for always winning the league title in his second season, it will be interesting to see how this season pans out for them.
They are currently second in the league table heading into this game and top of their Champions League group.
