Everton vs Lyon Preview

This could be the last game that Ronald Koeman takes Everton as their manager with his position coming under increased scrutiny.

The Dutch man oversaw a spending spree that almost doubled that of City Rivals Liverpool yet his team lacks creativity, are low on confidence and do not seem to even have what it takes to finish in the top half of the Premier League this season.

The Toffees are bottom of their Europa League group with just 1 point from their opening two games.

The Toffees continue to struggle up front and Ronald Koeman did not add fans favourites Oumar Niasse to his Europa League squad.   The Senegalese striker has enjoyed a stunning revival this season and may even be the reason Koeman is still in charge.

Gylfi Sigurdson has only shown glimpses of the player who singlehandedly saved Swansea from relegation last season and it will be interesting to see if he can finally prove how important a signing he is in this game.

Lyon have not had the best start to this season and they seem to still be missing Alexandre Lacazette whom they sold to Arsenal over the summer.

Although Nabil Fekir has tried his best to help with a couple of goals, they will still feel he has a long way to go in filling those boots.

They currently have just one point more than Everton and if they lose this game, they will put themselves in a position of chasing after the rest of the teams in the group.

Neither team has one player who has scored more than a single goal in this competition.
