Real Madrid vs Villarreal Preview

Real Madrid vs Villarreal

Competition – Spanish Primera

Stadium – Estadio Santiago Bernabéu

Date: 13th January 2018

Kick-off time – 15:15 GMT

This game is one of the matches that might end in an unlikely win for the visitors this weekend as Villarreal remain one of the teams good at causing upsets.

Their most recent travels to the Bernabeu have not been disastrous so they will head into this game with reasonable confidence.

Real Madrid have won only once in their last four matches in all competitions and that win came against Segunda division side Numancia in the Copa del Rey.

Their last two league games have yielded only a single point with a loss to Barcelona and a draw against Celta Vigo.

Gareth Bale’s return to fitness is a major boost for Real Madrid and his brace against Celta helped them to a point there.

However, his attacking combination with C. Ronaldo has not been as productive as required for a team that wants to end inside the top four.

Although Villarreal have a good history in this fixture, they have their own issues ahead of this match.

They have sold their star man Cedric Bakambu and have also been knocked out of the Copa del Rey by Leganes.

Villarreal drew their last league game at home to struggling Deportivo.

They also have their own player problems with some of their key men out injured.

However, they should be optimistic about their chances of scoring in this game as Real’s defence has been struggling to keep clean sheets this season.

Real have conceded one goal per game on average at home this season and the Los Blancos have conceded 2 or more goals in 5 of their last 6 games this season.

Two of their last three meetings at the Bernabeu have ended in draws.
