Liverpool vs AS Roma
Competition – Champions League
Stadium – Anfield
Date: 24th April 2018
Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT
This might be considered a step too far for Liverpool after they were expected to struggle to get out of the group stages following two draws in their opening two group games against Sevilla and Spartak Moscow.
Their quarterfinal game against Manchester City was expected to be their final bus stop but Jurgen Klopp’s men defied the odds and defeated the Cityzens home and away to win the game 5-1 on aggregate.
They can now be confident of making it to the finals however this will surely be a tricky game for them.
Klopp rested some of his key men in their weekend draw against West Brom, leaving only the Golden Boot chasing Mohamed Salah who scored yet again to equal the Premier League record for a single season with 31 goals.
He has been outstanding in the Champions League too with 8 goals in 10 games for the Reds and he has netted 4 times in his last 5 European appearances and looks set to add to that tally here.
AS Roma are not to be underrated in any way.
The Romans netted 3 goals without reply in the last round against no other team than Barcelona who remain unbeaten in La Liga.
They followed that victory with a draw at Lazio and wins over SPAL and Genoa in the Serie A.
Liverpool have netted 34 times in their last 12 competitive games at home and 11 of those matches have seen them score at least twice.
Meanwhile Roma have scored in all but one of their last 11 away games in all competitions including 3 at Chelsea.
Liverpool are odds-on to win the first leg at Anfield and bookmakers believe they will make it to the final with very short odds being offered for them to proceed to the final.
