Marseille have endured a miserable few years in the French league over the past few seasons.
The 1993 Champions League winners finished as low as 13th in the Ligue 1 table in 2016, before managing a 5th place finish last time around.
This season however, looks more positive.
They have wrapped up a top four spot in Ligue 1 as they have a 19 points cushion on Nice who are 5th and they are just 2 points adrift of AS Monaco who are second.
They are also in with a good chance of winning the Europa League with just 3 potential games left. Their fans couldn’t have wished for any better.
They face RB Salzburg again this season after the two squared up against each other in the group stage.
Although the two group stage games saw just a single goal scored, this game will most likely end with a more interesting scoreline.
Marseille’s 5-1 win over Lille at the weekend means they have now netted 13 times in their last three games including a 5-3 aggregate win over RB Leipzig in the Europa League quarterfinals.
They have however, conceded 5 goals in those games too.
Salzburg are a team that has been underrated for much of this competition, yet they seem to have more surprises up their sleeves.
They eliminated Lazio in the quarterfinal by winning against the Italians 4-1 at home after losing 4-2 in Rome and they might have to do the same here as Marseille are in top form.
