Sweden vs South Korea
Competition – FIFA World Cup
Stadium – Nizhny Novgorod Stadium
Date: 18th June 2018
Kick-off time – 13:00 GMT
Sweden’s fans were worried about their national team when Zlatan Ibrahimovic retired from international football two years ago.
However, this group of players has shown that those worries are needless; in fact the Swedes seem to play better as a team now than when Zlatan was their leader.
They head into their first World Cup since 2006 with more team spirit, but they have been placed in a difficult group.
They face Germany, Mexico, and South Korea for a place in the Round of 16 and while finishing top of the group may be too much for them, finishing second is achievable, but they have to win this game first.
Sweden have not had the most ideal preparation for this competition as they have drawn their two warm up games 0-0 and they come into this competition having lost three of their last ten games so they are going to be a difficult team to break down for any side.
South Korea are the underdogs in this group based on raw talent and they do not come into this World Cup in great form.
They lost their last game against Senegal – that match followed a draw against Bolivia and they also lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier in the month.
Sweden are unbeaten in their last three games against the Koreans, winning one and drawing the twice.
