Senegal vs Colombia
Competition – FIFA World Cup
Stadium – Samara Arena
Date: 28th June 2018
Kick-off time – 15:00 GMT
Senegal are the only remaining African team after Nigeria were eliminated so they carry the hopes of millions of Africans after a desperately poor showing from the continent’s representatives.
The Senegalese started the competition on a bright note after beating Poland 2-1; they should have sealed qualification to the next round in their next game against Japan as they went ahead twice, however, each time they allowed the Asians to equalize.
They now face a task of avoiding a defeat in this game to pull through.
Sadio Mane and his team mates have enough strength to pull through, but like we saw in the game between Nigeria and Argentina, it’s not over until it’s over.
Colombia were one the most exciting teams to watch at the last World Cup – the South Americans were led by James Rodriguez who won the Golden Boot.
They started this competition poorly by losing 2-1 to Japan after going a man down early on.
They recovered well to beat Poland 3-0 in their next game and they need to win this game to stand a chance of progressing.
The Colombians can now call on a fully recovered James Rodriguez to play here and after opening his account in their last game while Radamel Falcao should be ready to lead from the front also.
Bookmakers favour Colombia in this match-up as they are currently trading slight odds-on favourites.
