Real Madrid vs Juventus
Competition – International Champions Cup 2018
Stadium – FedExField
Date: 4th August 2018
Kick-off time – 23:05 GMT
These two European heavyweights come together in this pre-season tournament in one of the most interesting match of the International Champions Cup so far.
Real Madrid are having a pre-season without Cristiano Ronaldo for the first time since 2009, and their opponents in this game happens to be the team that the World Footballer of the year moved to over the summer and although he will not play in the game, Los Blancos will be looking to show the Italians that they can thrive without him.
Real Madrid started their ICC campaign on a poor note after they were beaten by an unimpressive Manchester United side 2-1 – that was their first pre-season game of the summer and it gave Julen Lopetegui the chance to play his new front three of Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale. He will hope they can fire in more goals in this game.
Juventus have been the most dominant team in Italy for the past seven years.
Last season SS Napoli almost broke their stranglehold on Serie A, but they couldn’t and no team may ever come that close again anytime soon.
The Italians have signed Cristiano Ronaldo for £100 million and offered him £500k per week salary.
As a serial winner, he has boosted their chances of maintaining their dominance of the Italian game while also getting an edge in terms of winning the Champions League.
While Ronaldo will not play this game, the likes of Paolo Dybala, Gonzalo Higuain, Miralem Pjanic and Emre Can are all available and they will be looking for their second win in normal time in this competition.
Bookmakers make Real Madrid slight favourites to come out on top in this tie.
