Brazil vs Argentina

Competition – International Friendly

Stadium – King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah

Date: 16th October 2018

Kick-off time – 18:45 GMT

This is a friendly game that seems more than that as two of South America’s biggest football nations go head to head at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

After their quarterfinals exit at the hands of Belgium in the last World Cup, Brazil haven’t shown any signs of a hangover, and the country is still hopeful that Tite can bring them another trophy as he has won 23 of his 29 games as their manager.

After being hammered 7-1 by Germany at the 2014 World Cup which was played at their home, the Selecao can’t wait for the Copa America which will be played at their home next year.

Their wins over USA, El Salvador, and Saudi Arabia certainly points towards a country that is preparing well for that competition, but this game is a major step up in quality.

Argentina are also hopeful of ending their wait for a trophy when they compete at the Copa America next year.

They have recovered well from their poor showing at the Russia 2018 World Cup.

New manager, Lionel Scaloni has largely been experimenting with his squad since he took charge and hasn’t named Lionel Messi or Sergio Aguero in any of his squads so far, and the results haven’t been bad.

They have beaten Guatemala and Iraq, while picking up a goalless draw against Colombia to prove that they can actually compete with some of the World’s stronger teams as well.

Argentina won the last friendly match between these teams while the Brazilians collected 4 points from Argentina on their way to qualifying for the World Cup in Russia.

Three of their last 4 matches against eachother have ended in fewer than 2.5 goals scored.
