Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Liverpool
Competition – FA Cup
Stadium – Molineux Stadium
Date: 7th January 2019
Kick-off time – 19:45 GMT
Wolves have taken to life in the Premier League with more ease than all of the other teams who gained promotion with them in the summer.
The constant investment in their playing staff by the club owners has helped the Molineux outfit to compete and with no fear of relegation this season, they will be looking to cause an upset in the Cup competitions starting from this game.
The home side are currently 9th in the Premier League and have enjoyed a resurgence of form recently.
However, they have lost 5 of their last 7 home games including a 2-0 loss to Liverpool last month and it will be interesting to see how this pans out.
Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League table after they won all of their league games in December.
They suffered their first league defeat of the season when they faced Manchester City on Thursday and now have just 4 points more than Manchester City.
With an eye on the Premier League title that they haven’t won in 29 years, Jurgen Klopp is most likely going to field a weakened team in this game, and that could see the Reds exit the competition early.
Liverpool have won their last two visits to Molineux, scoring 5 goals and conceding none.
Bookmakers have priced Liverpool up as slight odds-on favourites with the possibility of a weakened side being fielded.
Mohamed Salah is still clear favourite with bookies to score the opening goal of the game despite the above.
