Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea

Competition – Carabao Cup

Stadium – Wembley Stadium

Date: 8th January 2019

Kick-off time – 20:00 GMT

Tottenham have been transformed into a genuine top four club by Mauricio Pochettino, but the much-loved Argentine manager has failed to win them a trophy during the last 4 years that he has been in charge.

This competition offers them the perfect chance to finally lay their hands on a first trophy since 2008.

The Lilywhites are looking more like a team that can compete with the very best this season and they come into this game in fine form.

They swept aside Tranmere 0-7 in the FA Cup at the weekend and that was the third time they have scored at least 5 goals in their last 5 matches.

Tottenham beat Arsenal in the quarterfinal to set up this clash and they seem to have what it takes to go all the way.

Chelsea have been more accustomed to winning trophies and even the ill-fated reign of Antonio Conte ended with them as FA Cup winners, so the pressure is on Maurizio Sarri to keep the winning tradition going.

The former Empoli boss has never won a trophy in his managerial career and may be outsmarted by Mauricio Pochettino here.

The Blues have struggled for goals recently with their front men failing to deliver and they come into this game having not scored more than two goals in any of their last 11 games in all competitions.

Bookmakers have priced Tottenham up as steady favourites to come out on top while goal markets suggest this could be a lively cup game as over 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on.

This game gets underway at 20:00 BST.
