Valladolid were beaten by Huesca in their last league game and couldn’t score a goal – they now look to take advantage of playing at home and getting the win against this struggling Villarreal side.
Villarreal have finished inside the Spanish top six for each of the last 5 seasons, however, they are closer to the relegation placings than the top six at this stage of the season and it is safe to say that they are fighting for survival.
The away side haven’t won a league game since November and the last time they defeated an opponent away from home was in September.
Avoiding relegation is the key thing for Villarreal this season and their new manager who was reappointed recently will not be keen on making progress in the Europa League if it means that they will be relegated at the end of the season.
There is always a winner in the games between these sides as only one of their 15 head to heads has ended in a stalemate.
Valladolid have won two of the last three meetings between these teams including the reverse fixture of this game last year.
Bookmakers have priced Villarreal up as slight favourites to get their first away win since September.
Goal markets point to a low-scoring game as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Moreno Gerard is favourite to open the scoring closely followed by Carlos Bacca and Enes Unal.
