This game is always a fiery one whenever it comes up regardless of who is hosting the other.
The reason is obvious, as Atletico continue to fight to prove that they can overhaul their illustrious rivals.
This time, these two sides head into this game very close to each other in the league table.
Atletico Madrid are currently second behind Barcelona with 44 points while Real Madrid are third with 42 points.
A win for Real Madrid would see them move into the second position, while a win for Atleti would see them move 5 points clear of their rivals in the title race.
With much to gain and potentially lose, we expect these two sides to come out battle-ready.
Diego Simeone could revert to his normal defencive side to frustrate Madrid and hit them on the counter, while Santiago Solari could set his team up to apply pressure to try and break down their rivals.
Real Madrid have struggled for form and consistency this season and although things have recently improved they still remain volatile and Atleti could be the team that breaks their momentum here.
5 of Atleti’s last 6 games have ended in under 2.5 goals and it could also be the same outcome here as both teams will be trying hard to avoid making any mistakes.
From a betting perspective, bookmakers have priced Atletico Madrid up as slight favourites to come out on top however the odds are close and Real Madrid should have their supporters.
Goal markets point to a low-scoring game as under 2.5 goals is currently trading odds-on while Antoine Griezmann is clear favourite to open the scoring.
