Belgium vs Russia Preview

This is one of the most exciting games of this round of Euro 2020 qualifiers and these sides will be looking to get off to a good start.

The Belgians reached the last four of the Russia 2018 World Cup, only losing to eventual winners France while beating England to take third place eventually.

They are the favourites in this group and fans expect them to qualify ahead of Russia and Scotland so they need to start well here.

The Belgians also have a point to prove after they were beaten 5-2 by Switzerland in their last Euro Nations League qualifying game.

Russia genuinely overachieved at the last World as they surprised everyone and reached the last 8.  They were eliminated on penalties by the eventual runners up, Croatia.

Since that competition however, they have struggled to put results together having lost 3-0 in Germany and 2-0 in Sweden ahead of this game, so it will be interesting to see how well they do here even though their fans shouldn’t expect much from them against this star-studded Belgium side.

Bookmakers have priced Belgium up as odds-on favourites to come out on top in this game while goal markets expect an exciting game as over 2.5 goals is also trading odds-on.

In-form Romelu Lukaku is clear favourite with oddsmakers to score the opening goal of the game.
